The world is constantly moving as a series of events. History and the present consist of a series of events that occur in a random or involuntary order. This produces a continuous sequence of sounds and each event leads to the next sound. One after the other it forms a sequence. This process can vary depending on factors such as the nature of the sounds, the context in which they are perceived, and the individual experiences of the observer. Many people record these events on a sound recorder, sometimes without purpose and sometimes with a conscious purpose, such as by sound artists or nature lovers to create a soundscape, a sound map, sound walk, or for video/film. 'Sequencing Places' is a multimedia expression of the sonic environment in which we live. The basis of the audio for 'Sequencing Places' largely comes from the internet (found audio footage) and audio recordings made by Wijnand himself. On Air – On Site is a project designed with the primary aim of fostering the growth of an experimental community radio based in The Hague. Sound artist and radio maker Margherita Brillada conceived this initiative recognising the sociological dimension of radio as a public space for artistic involvement and community connection. In 2023, she initiated the festival as a practice-based project aligned with her artistic research in community radio and web radio. Leonie Roessler works with field recordings and art radio. Her work has been increasingly focused on both collaborative composition processes and the theme of marginalisation. She joined Margherita in curating the first edition of the festival and the two are now preparing the 2024 edition which will be held from May 24 at 20.00 p.m. until May 26 at 20.00 p.m., online, on the FM, and on site at the Institute of Sonology and WEST Den Haag.
